I am a self-identified, center conservative in all aspects of life. I always seek equilibrium by seeking input from many different/contrasting sources, conservative and liberal, before expressing my opinion on any matter.
My core (essential) values have roots in common-ground conservatism. As a Christian for six decades, I have not nor do I not expect to change my belief in these core values.
My periphery (non essential) values are subject to change with sufficient valid evidence derived from deep research, analysis, and soul searching to support such change.
Ultimately, my hope for now and the future is in living the truth based on my complete value system firmly rooted in my Lord Jesus Christ.
I hold no affiliation with any political party. Nor do I stray too far from a center right point of view on most issues. However, I can swing slightly to the left (liberal) or right (conservative) of center depending on the specific issue. I consider myself an independent thinker who draws heavily from my Christian belief and experiences; independent research of multiple, unconnected news sources on each issue; and my understanding and experiences in logic, science, economics, politics, and social dynamics. In this manner, I form my independent conclusions about modern day issues. Ultimately, for each issue, I’m always searching for root causes of problems by “listening to understand” contrasting points of view while seeking common ground solutions for the common good of humankind.
Whether one agrees with my point-of-view or not, I hope everyone senses in my writing that I am expressing my viewpoint with the deepest love and respect for others and their opinions. My goal is always to follow Ephesians 4:15 and 1 Peter 3:15 conflated, “…speak the truth in love and do so with gentleness and respect.”
I have no fear of truth.
While I cherish my time here on earth with family, friends, and all of God’s creation that I’m fortunate enough to touch, my ultimate hope is not in this world but in eternity with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ who said “I Am (God) the way, the truth, the life.” I wish the same joy and internal peace for all people, but I respect that not everyone agrees with me on the existence and source of absolute truth — God.
Just to get all my cards on the table, my views about science are inseparable from my views about the Christian movement. For context, I am a scientist/engineer by formal education and profession and a Christian by faith and identity. And, I believe God created the universe with all its glorious elements and it was done through the creator’s science. For that reason, I believe the scientific truths revealed to us by God are consistent with the Christian religion, and thus, there are no contradictions. Of course, there are perceived contradictions, since we do not fully understand the “how’s” of God’s awesome creations. For full understanding, we would have to be God with infinite wisdom. Not going to happen here on earth this side of Heaven.
Ergo, there will always be those among us who separate God and science. So be it in God’s creation, since God gives each and every human being free will. My hope is that this will just present us all with opportunities to have civil discourse about the differences of opinion. This will make us as a collective much stronger in the long haul.
And, always my overarching goal in life is to follow Matthew 22:37-40, “Love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself…All the Law and the Prophets (teachings) hang on these two commandments.”
For all of the people in the world, religious or not, to truly seek to follow the “…love your neighbor as yourself” part of Jesus’ teachings is a lofty goal indeed.
Notwithstanding, please consider the possibilities if we all make the effort to do so. What a joyful and peaceful world it could be.
